Charlottesville VA
Before you roll your eyes -
I am thinking about a relocation to Charlottesville, but I travel often for work. I have heard from several peers that also live in Virginia, but not Charlottesville, that the airport shuts down often. Is there any truth to this, and what conditions cause this? If can't rely on the airport, then I may have to entertain other locations to move to.
BTW - Im sure you have figured out that I am moving just to move, and have no definate location picked out yet. Charlottesville came up as a great place to live, raise my family, and enjoy the outdoors, avoid crime, and take an easy breath to enjoy life . All of these are areas of desire to me!
Thanks

Charlottesville Airport is a regional airport. I don't know if many businesses really use it for their business trips although larger planes can and do land there. It's possible but would be expensive I'd think. Most from C'Ville use either Richmond, Dulles, or National (now Reagan)...
As far as why the C'Ville Airport shuts down??? Other than weather and the fact that it simply closes at night (or at least it used to) I don't know.

Call them directly
I live in C-ville and love it. I'm sure you could call the airport directly and get the facts you need:
Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport : The Right Place to Start
Hope this helps,

When I lived in Cville I usually used the local airport. It was never closed--not sure where you got that info. Lots of people depend on it for business travel.

They have daily shuttle fights to NYC (or did a couple of years ago). From NYC, you can fly anywhere in the world. I think that's pretty good for a small town in the middle of the mountains.
