That was actually summer of '13 - everything was down to one lane west of Pulaski - and the lane actually veered onto the shoulder, so it really slowed things down. We were actually on our moving trip from Texas to Roanoke at the time!

We were way past lunch time - I think we had planned to stop in Dublin or Radford - but we wound up at the Steer House instead.

Every so often someone suggests we eat there. I have the French Fries. They are OK.
Trip Advisor ranks it #8 in Pulaski, just behind Taco Bell LOL!

(But there are six more rated even lower haha!)

#1 is Compadres!

Have you ever eaten at the Blue Door in Draper - really good! Trip Advisor ranks it #1 out of 1 in Draper haha!

I have eaten at the Blue Door.

Too Californiaish for me. Its a tourist spot, not the kind of place locals hang out. Tourists think it is cute because it has an old potbelly stove and other quaint stuff.
Also seemed a little expensive.

They usually draw a crowd from the interstate and the bike trail. (First timers that won't be back?)
Actually, I consider that a good business tactic.

We took my Uncle there for Father's Day and they screwed things up as well. Not the enjoyable day we had planned. So I have a couple reasons for not going back.

But if you want to eat in Draper you are correct, #1 out of 1.

Except this:
One of my buddy's favorite meals is a groundhog milkshake.
You drive slow until you find a groundhog in a ditch that was killed a couple days earlier by a car. He must be in fairly good condition, not burst open. (My buddy says, not busted).
He should have been out in the sun and summer heat for a day or so. If he is swollen up like a basketball, he's ready.
Place him on the asphalt then pound him with a tire tool until all his innards have been pulverized.
Take that milkshake straw that's been in your car's console for at least 2 years and insert it in the groundhog's...well...uh...his... eh...ready-made straw "hole" then suck out all that goodness.
Draper fast food.
The original protein shake.

Do not confuse this with an Oklahoma Asphalt Pizza.
