I think that you'd love chesterfield county. There very schools a lot of affordable housing and you are still close to the city's of Richmond, Petersburg and Colonial Heights.You are an Hour from the beaches and Mountains and two hours from Washington DC and Two Hours from Baltimore Md. I think you'd find just about evrything you are looking for in Chesterfield nice malls etc.

The City of Colonial Heights, Virginia
I was a long time resident in Colonial Heights, Va. It is a fine city to live in. The schools are outstanding. The Police and Fire departments are I would say the best in the country. You will have no problem fining a home for around $300,000. The crime rate is very low. The tax rate is a little high but you get what you pay for. Colonial Heights is about a 45 min drive south just off of interstate 95 south maybe a little longer during rush hour. Old route 1 and 301 go right through the middle of the city. Shopping is very convenient, South Park Mall is right off interstate 95 minutes from anywhere in the city. Motel rates are around $50.00 a night. Colonial Heights is also very quite. I say for the money The City of Colonial Heights, Virginia is one of your better places to live in, and I should know I have lived there.
