I’m in the camp that says if you really want a German vehicle, leasing is the way to go because you get the fun years with it and someone else deals with the mechanical problems they are prone to beyond about the five year mark

I would consider a VW lease. My daughter's 2010 VW Beetle has been a good car.
I was getting it serviced the other day @ the VW dealer, I noticed in the showroom they had some very good leases IMO ; 1500 down, 129mo, 30 months, 10K a year. That would work for me.
I am ready to start leasing a new car every few years, I am getting tired of dealing with old cars and repairs.
With the VW Atlas being a first year model (my Dad always advised against ever buying first model year motor vehicle), it may make sense to lease at first. If the thing turns out to be a total dog of a vehicle plagued with repair and other issues, you can just give it back and not have to worry being stuck with resale.
