I am considering buying a used Volvo C30 advice on your experience with these. Growing up in the 80's I always heard Volvo's are expensive. I think they meant to repair. Now most of us get out cars repaired back then many people did their own repairs. So are they the same price to get repaired as a Toyota or Chevy more or less?
The 2008 and later models and later have good safety ratings. I am considering getting a 2008-2010 or so.
The C30 is an interesting premium hatch and shares many of the features of the same era S40. It is a generally reliable vehicle, and where Volvos can get expensive is in the maintenance and repair area, where you will pay a slight premium over a more mass produced vehicle because there are more Toyota or Chevrolet mechanics. Do you know of a good Swedish shop locally? If so, the cost can be in line with other brands, depending upon how they bill the labor. Parts can be a little more expensive than a Chevrolet, but not terribly more than a Honda or Toyota.
