You're TOP 5 Maryland towns/suburbs you like, commutable to DC?

Take into consideration all things relative to your current situation - i.e. financial limitations for living, access to your job(s), or whatever it is that is important to you...

This is assuming the OP commutes into downtown DC. (I always worked in the Beltway suburbs or Baltimore, so these are not my personal choices.) I am assuming convenience to transport is a priority rather than housing prices. I would compromise and live in a smaller house rather than go further out.

1. Silver Spring
2. Kensington
3. Bethesda
4. Rockville
5. Glen Echo/Cabin John

Some like Rockville are based on location more than amenities. I find Rockville way too busy and crowded. Also, while I like Glen Echo, it would be hard to find a reasonably priced house, and you might have to find a fixer-upper.

Note, there is nowhere in Prince George County, although I could consider Calverton as a sixth choice.

These are not my favorite 5, but rather the 5 areas I could live in and are easier for us to afford. These are in order of preference.

1. Gaithersburg west of 270
2. Laurel
3. Bowie
4. Germantown
5. Silver Spring - downtown is nice but I'm thinking the area around Randolph Rd east of Georgia Ave.
