Hello all

On April 1st my family and I will be moving to Chesapeake Beach

I am Catholic and take my faith seriously- I am also a Catholic convert, who went through RCIA 4 yrs ago

I am dreading leaving my current church home, it is a very unique and wonderful church

Here is what I am looking for in a new church that I have in my current church

1. Takes seriously Vatican two

2. Helping the poor as it's main mission

3. Good liturgy- my current church has beautiful masses- Many elements from the traditional masses, with an amazing choir, etc.

4. Truly embodies the Catholic social teachings (for example aims to truly protect the sanctity of life across the entire human life spectrum, NOT just obsessed with stopping abortion)

My Catholicism and current church can best be thought of as more Dorothy Day, and less Newt Gingrich

Can anyone suggest a decent church for me?

Btw, I should add I am NOT interested in debating the finer points of Catholicism- unless you can address my main concern, please keep moving

Here is a link to my current church

I don't have any advice for you because I'm not familiar with the area, but just wanted to say best of luck in your search. When we have been considering similar moves in the past I look at the bulletin for the churches I am considering. I also pick up the phone and ask to speak with the DRE (Director of Religious Education) - they generally seem to have a pretty good handle on the "tenor" of the parish.

Best of luck !
