1.5-2.0 hours, traffic / weather permitting.
It's just over an hour to get from Olney to Owings Mills via Rt 97 to I-70, I-70 to Marriottsville Rd, then there up to the back side of Owings Mills.

Thanks for your replies emsgoof and mom2boys37!

Is there a way I can commute by Metro in 1.5 hours? I need to go to the office near Owings Mill Mall and back.

Or Is there a way I can drive through the local roads as given in google maps.
Google has estimated 1.5 hours through local roads.

1.5-2 hours??? Holy insanity! Is this normal in the area? I can't imagine making that commute unless the salary increase was dramatic. How about relocating?

Well, from Gaithersburg to Owings Mills, if you HAVE to do it during rush hour, I'd say take Goshen Rd. It will turn into Brink Rd, then Sundown Rd. Turn left on Rt. 97 (Georgia Ave), take that up to I-70 east, get off onto Rt. 40 east, turn left at the first traffic light onto Marriottsville Rd. Follow Marriottsville Rd across Rt. 26 (Liberty Rd), turn right onto Lyons Mills Rd, left on Owings Mills Blvd, and you'll end up at the mall.
From Sunshine to Owings Mills it's about 45 minutes. I don't remember how long it takes to get from Gaithersburg to Sunshine though.

Taking mass transit really isn't an option. You'd end up taking the red line to Union Station, then MARC to Baltimore, light rail to Lexington Market, and the subway to Owings Mills, then finding a bus that will take you to your final destination (because the subway station isn't close to ANYTHING, and you can't easily walk to the mall from it unless you hike through some trees / bushes). That would be an insane commute that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

*edit*- looking on Mapquest, it shows Gaithersburg to Sunshine in 20 minutes. I know it would take a little longer than that due to Gaithersburg traffic, but you might be able to squeeze the commute in to under 1 1/2 hours.

Default Gaithersburg to Owings Mill - Carpool

Hi,

I got a job in Owings mill and am looking for a easier and less traffic trip from Gaithersburg. Anyone has any suggestion on which route is best to take.

Is anybody interested in carpooling from GB to Owings Mill, please let me know.

Thanks
