Anybody that understands statistics, understands that those numbers really do not prove anything one or another because there are too many variables that are assumed. It is assumed that every racial group has a proportionate amount of individuals who behave the same. That is impossible to predict because behavior is subjective and it doesn't account for economic difference which more than likely contributes to the variance in police perception and behavior of individuals. Do I believe they target blacks? Yes I believe they do, but I can't honestly say that every time black person is arrested, they are being mistreated and they are innocent and that's why statistics like that are pointless. Do you know what percentage of those individuals are truly victims and completely innocent? No one does.

How harmful do you think those type of situations can be to places like PG that has a large black population?
Not sure how harmful. In the DC area it is sometimes about race, but it's more about money, power and connections. Those who aren't familiar with or new to the DC area bring their ideas of who is who and what is what until they get settled in have an incident or 2 and learn real quick not to judge. The person who you think is going to snatch your purse could be your new boss or co-worker or a college student or a lawyer, an ambassador or the child of or a purse snatcher. It's more of a reminder of how the country is outside this area. Here police are less likely to troll the streets of Tantallon for mischief than they are certain parts of Temple Hills (no disrespect to Temple Hills. There are some decent family oriented areas there with nice homes. I just picked it because a recent shooting received national coverage)
