I am planning to open a retail shop in Gaithersburg and I would like feedback about the name I have chosen - "Bequest". When you hear this name/word, what comes to mind?

After I get a few responses, I will tell you what type of store it is!

Thanks!

Hmmm... my dad said the same thing.. death. This is what I was afraid of! Sounds like I will have to pick a new name. Bummer.

Still gonna wait for a few more replies until I say what type of store.

Sounds like something that was passed down from an estate. So, I think sale of dead peoples items.

It also makes me think of lawyers, and of the scenes in movies where all the heirs go to the lawyer's office for the reading of the will. And it makes me think of snooty people who sit on boards of large charities and universities -- the people who are always nagging you to change your will to give them all your money.

I agree with the previous posters, the word immediately made me think of death. I can't wait to find out what the store will actually sell.

OK, I'll be the positive one...LOL!

BeQuest can mean receiving something very valuable from a much treasured source. It can be "valuable" in terms of cost or expense, but also of nostalgia or sentiment.

There, how's that?
