It looks like they are building some ramps. Are they connecting 295 With 395?
Yeah so people will no longer have to use Pennsylvania ave when coming from 395 to 295 and when trying to get from 295 to 395 you'll no longer have to use South Capitol street. I'll be a straight highway to highway connection. Should have been done years ago.
They had hoped to do this many years ago, but environmental groups lobbied against it, like the Washington Area Bicyclist Association and others. Such a connection was discussed many times in the Washington Post "Doctor Gridlock" column.

I think there is already a connection from 395 to 295. It's called the 11th street bridge. If you are on 395 going towards SE & MD from DT, don't take the South Cap exit or the 6th Street SE exit. Stay to the right and it eventually runs into 295 south.

What about getting to 295 North? What about coming southbound on 295 and wanting to go downtown? Neither one has ramps yet. They're buildi9ng those ramps now as part of the 11th st bridge construction.
3 cheers for common sense!
But why didn't they just widen the pensylvania ave bridge?
And does anyone have a link to an article about the project?
Many thanks appreciated.
