I have recently encountered about 8 or 9 people who government or private-sector who like to use "Tina" aka crystal meth. It already seems like DC residents have replaced liquor/beer with water, but is there an underlying narcotic problem here in this city? Is the federal government and its supporting clientele filled with functioning addicts? What have you seen/know? I'm very open about everyone's views.
Substance abuse affects every race, gender, income-level etc etc etc... BUT what the hell are you doing that you have met 8 or 9 people recently that use crystal meth?

Do they all hang together? I know 0 people who use meth in this city or perhaps they hide it from me because they know I would call them the new crackhead. Anything above weed and liquor seems a little too dicey for me.

You need to get the h-e double hockey sticks away from these people if you have any hope of holding a government position with a high security clearance required. Definitely quit talking about it on a freakin' public forum.
Not sure where you're meeting these people. Drug use precludes you from federal employment when you fill out your SF-86, so it's a big deal here. I have never known or come across a professional in DC who openly abuses drugs. Now what people do behind closed doors is a different story of course, but I can't think of anybody who I'd even suspect of using drugs. I do know that meth/"tina" is a growing problem in the gay community.
I have not seen any hard drug use myself with the professional crowd, especially meth which is generally looked down upon.
Drinking and Marijuana, absolutely, in fact both are pretty common. But most MJ users I know who are professionals actually bothered to get the doctors perscription.
Drinking, well this is DC, people out here love their fine wines, martinis, and european and craft brews.
Meth though...absolutely not.
