I'm from the UK and looking to come over to W DC in the next couple of weeks. I really want to go to some exicting areas that not many tourist will know about. Can you help??
Are there any events / festivals going on from the 20th October till the end of the month. I'm really lucky to come over and want to see where the skater hang out, are there any exicting sports out there??
Well, you could always do some kayaking. If you'd be new to that sport, there are half-day flatwater tours up the C&O Canal on Oct 20 and 21. The foliage should be great about then. Or the following weekend, you could paddle through the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge if you could manage to get yourself over to Cambridge MD, which is where BNWR is. Cost is about $100 either way. If on the other hand, you've been kayaking since you were a kid, there are world-class whitewater runs on the Potomac. The US Olympic team trains here. More info?
