I'd be willing to take a two and share with my daughter but it would put us in the same predicament. The rent standards are determined by the number of bedrooms in a house. So you have X maximum for a 1BR X maximum for a 2BR and so on. The maximum for a 2BR is less (I'm not sure what the actual figure is off the top of my head). I know that a lot of places are being built all over the city so maybe trying to get on a list there and waiting it out would work better. I was reading some news articles and I admit I didn't realize the issue was quite so dire in the District

You could try looking in Petworth/Brightwood. Rent is near that for a simple rowhouse. We raise our kids here. We're careful, but it's a good place with lots to offer. There's a good charter school, E.L Haynes opening up there too. $2300 is less than my mortgage too. . .you should look into HPAP. You could probably buy a house for less.

I've actually been to the area; I was over there for a lecture and I thought it was pretty nice. We'll look into that as well thank you!
