The question wasn't DC v VA v MD.
Agree with you asking on the MD or VA boards might not get the same response but why post here? DC has nothing to do with what this person is asking.

Better schools
Better jobs
Lower Taxes (people mistakenly think MD has lower taxes)
Higher cost of mortgage/living/rent etc.
MD:
Poorer schools
Less jobs
higher crime
Lower cost of living
YMMV, but you want to live close to work. VA overall is a better state if you are concerned about, schools, taxes, and finance.
MD is better if you are conerned about traffic, and absurdly low rent.
You post is laughauble see below for the facts. Maryland any day of the week. Potomac>Great Falls Bethesda>McLean and Chevy Chase>Arlington and as a whole Maryland>Virginia
Please do some basic research. Go and look in the Maryland forum, both links have already been posted and disputed.
Of course Maryland is going to show higher median income than Virginia, when you look at Richmond, Roanoke, Lynchburg etc. VA has almost 60% more people living in rual areas. Same with test scores.
You need to compare PG and MoCo with NOVA for more accurate desicrptions not cherry pick.

To the OP, you are always going to have "x is better than y" I posted benefits of both sides, best thing to do is talk to a realtor that has experience and is licesned in both states (or go read historical posts in the MD and VA forums).
Let people that have experience and have lived in both states be your guide, not cheerleaders.
This why suburban questions should be discussed on suburban boards. People in DC don't care about Maryland > Virginia or vice versa.
