Hello,

My husband may have a job at the pentagon. We have a 3 year old daughter and want to keep the commuting as short as possible ( let's say 1/2 hour each way). What are some safe towns, with quick lines to Pentagon? not sure if we will rent or buy. I work in health care (ultrasonographer) seems to be a lot of jobs for me in all directions so not worried about my commute. Any information would be greatly appreciated

It sounds like you are interested in living in the suburbs. This is the forum for DC the city proper. There is a separate forum for Northern Virginia, which is the term for the Virginia suburbs of DC. You should post there, but make sure you include your BUDGET because it's really hard to give good advice without knowing what you can afford.

Norther Virginia boards, and DC area in general you are going to need to state a budget, and do not be surprised if people say it's unrealistic. This area is only behind SF Bay area and NYC in terms of cost, and that includes the Northern Virginia burbs which can often be more expensive than DC.

Can19, It really does depend on your budget. There is often great advice on this forum, but you will need to give a few more details. Do you have a sense of where you will be working? If you have not sorted that out yet, I suggest you first look at Inova in Fairfax. That would open up a lot of neighborhood options. Also, it would be helpful to know if would consider a townhouse, if walkability is important to you, your husband's preferred method of commuting, etc.
