There are many top democrats who live in Old Town as well.

Virginia's Democratic Senator, Mark Warner, lives on S Lee Street I believe. James Carville has a house very close to the river or on the river too. That's just off the top of my head.

I think Lyndon Johnson's daughter lives in the hood too.

OMG it is a recognizable MINORITY of GOP members. Run for the hills.

Old Town Alexandria is not Takoma Park. But it is not Kansas either. Alexandria is still by in large liberal, with a more recognizable minority of Republicans who live or work there. It's still a nice place to live, then again, I don't live there, I live closer to Takoma Park.
