We have hit Peak Gentrification in Washington, DC.

Say Hello to Claudia's Steakhouse, Where Martinis Go for $125 and Grocery Store Wines are Poured at a Premium | Washingtonian

Lobbyists must be raking in record fees to be able to afford such expensive drinks.

This is K street, it has always been this way. This is not peak gentrification not even close, peak gentrification is still years away. DC is still in many ways in the early stages.

This is on K street, not your average bar on U Street or H Street. Simmer down

Wait, what does this have to do with gentrification? Are the lobbyists gentrifying the lawyers out of K Street?

People in town for business. That's who this restaurant caters to - people paying with their company per diems, so they are less sensitive to price. It has nothing to do with gentrification because a lot of the people buying the overpriced martinis and steaks don't even live in DC.

Nolet reserve gin goes for like $700 a bottle, so $125 per cocktail makes SOMEWHAT sense.

Jacking up the prices of the wines they mentioned is just absurd. Why serve cheap wine at such a fancy place?
