During the relatively small number of winter days that may have a lot of snow accumulation, schools and offices usually close and you are better off not driving during those days anyway. Stay home and relax or go outside and build a snowman with your kid.

On another note, I will say that it is more convenient for a family to have 2 cars instead of just one for a lot of reasons.
