It sends out a letter and offer first 3000 enrolled customer a locked natural gas price for next two years at $0.495 per therm. Is it a good deal to enroll? Thanks.

The past 12 months gas price charged by WasGas:
August 2016: .4640 per therm
July 2016: .4640 per therm
June 2016: .4256 per therm
May 2016: .3698

I wouldn't personally, I'm pretty good about watching my utilities (I like it cooler as well in winter and pay less than that rate - as you are as well!)

The issue is the overall gas price is low this year(gasoline price is about $2-ish per gallon), I just looked in Feb 2015, whose rate is much higher than locked rate.

It hard to see something causing a natural gas shortage in the near term given how much shale gas is available.

BTW natural gas and liquid gasoline sell in completely different markets. One doesn't affect the other. Gasoline is a global market. Natural gas is a regional market.

I don't believe that Washington Gas actually sent said letter. It was most certainly a reseller.
