Planning to visit next weekend, will the museums be open? Trolley?

And how is the Dupont area of DC as a starting point?

Did you seriously type "gobermint"?

Smithsonian museums are all closed. Private museums are open.

Dupont is a great starting location, as there are several small museums around there that are all open, and lots of great restaurants from many cuisines. It's not NYC (nothing is), but very enjoyable.
