I don't recall if I was ever charged, though I'm doubtful because I belonged to a credit union at the time, which hardly charges for anything.
But I always say "credit" whenever I use my Chase check card. seems to work fine. I hope wachovia is the same.
The only thing that bothers me about online banking is the fact that I would have to put my check in the hands of a third party before it reaches its final destination, namely a mail/parcel service, which for most intents and purposes, I've found to be wholly unreliable. I need to always know where my income is, moreso than my outgoing payments for my bills, because without income, you've got nothing. So, if I didn't have direct deposit, I think I'd still prefer to go through the hassle of long lines than to, even for a second, not know where my income is or if it will get where it's going.

Just a thought.
I generally totally agree, but the fact that my bank lets me use fedex and track it makes me feel better. If you're military you can use USAA bank which lets you deposit using a scanner from home without a middle man.
For those of you with Chevy Chase Bank, please consider the following information that I obtained from Bankrate.com (a very legitimate online bank interest rate website) regarding Chevy Chase Bank's soundness. In light of the failure of Indymac Bank, I would re-consider banking with Chevy Chase.
