My husband will be working primarily from our home, needing only occassionally to meet his business partner in Mclean. We can therefore live most anywhere we want. We have two kids - 5 yrs and 6 months of age so great schools (public or catholic schools) and kid friendly activities are needed. Need home in the 500-750K range no further then 2, maybe even 3 hours of DC area. Don't want to live by a strip mall, but don't want to be in the middle of nowhere either. We like the outdoors, enjoy walking, parks, books, history, restaurants, lectures, community festivals & gatherings. Any recommendations? Thanks!
1. Columbia MD...great area. The most convenient city in the whole region. You get the best of both DC/Bmore with good schools, parks, housing, shopping. Only downer is everything can seem chain oriented.
2. Arlington VA/Ballston/Fairfax/Alexandria-hell even Mclean-Great areas...tons of college educated professionals. Access to metro so having the car sit for eons is no problem to do. Only downer is price...
3. DC Northwest/Capitol Hill/Palisades/Gtown/Cleveland Park basically anything along wisconsin/connecticut street northwest..Only downer is DC Public school system is a no.
4. Silver Spring-Bethesda-Chevy Chase-Takoma Park-Largo/Mitchelleville-Upper Marlboro-Rockville-Gaitehrsburg-Frederick-Bowie
all good areas with good pts....just depends on your needs...
