I'd say that you need to remove rockville as an option... the commute by car would be about 45 min at the very least. Your best bet is to look further down the blue and orange lines -- maybe near merrifield or springfield if you want to be near something metro accessible. If you need to be near GW campus in foggy bottom every day, being close to a metro is probably wise. Also check out some of the older buildings in Pentagon City and along Columbia Pike (Columbia Pike is less metro accessible, though there are lots of bus routes) -- while not necessarily the swankiest buildings, they should serve the basic need and are usually a decent bargain. Same could be said for stuff along Lee Hway in Arlington, though again, no Metro but lots of bus routes. Someone mentioned Burke also, and that is probably a really good bet for all of your needs 'cept it may be the most difficult in terms of the commute.
