I'm a female in my early 30s looking to buy a condo in NW DC or Arlington...a minimum 1 bed/1 bath (no studios) with at least 600 sq. ft. I'd prefer a townhouse, but I don't think my budget of $375K will cut it in these areas with my other criteria below. My primary reason for moving is to shorten my commute (I work by the Judiciary Square metro stop on the Red line). Here's my wish list:
-Good location (good potential resale value/easy to rent out in the future, safe for a single female)
-Walking distance to metro (within 4 blocks)
-Solid construction
-Low, stable condo fees (less than $300/month; fewer amenities are fine)
-Washer/dryer in unit
-Assigned parking space
I have a preference for newer buildings (less than 10 years old). Any specific condo building recommendations based on the above? And does anyone know anything about the Alcova Row townhouses in Arlington? There were recently a couple on the market (short sales) that were close to my budget. Thanks in advance!
Anyone out there have any advice for me? I'd looked through the forums and found info on what areas of DC/Arlington are more desirable than others, but I posted a thread as i didn't find any info about which condo buildings in these areas that people have had good experiences with. Any input is much appreciated for this first-time homebuyer! If it makes it easier, some of the condo buildings I've been considering are:
-Artisan, Clara Barton, Lafayette, Residences at Gallery Place in Penn Quarter
-3883 Connecticut Ave in Cleveland/Woodley Park (don't know the building name)
-Atlas in West End
-1800 Wilson, Clarendon 1021, Odyssey in Arlington
