I remember reading a review in some local paper about an Ethiopian Restaurant that had this special coffee ritual at certain times, where they roast the coffee beans from stratch while you dine, and by dessert time it's ready.
Can anyone tell me the restaurant and background behind this?
Sidamo has, I believe, a ceremony along the lines of what you describe on Saturday or Sunday morning. I haven't been to the ceremony, but I've had coffee there several times and really enjoyed it.
Actually, their web site has some details:
Sidamo Coffee and Tea Weekly (http://www.sidamocoffeeandtea.com/Weekly.htm - broken link)
"Every Sunday at 2:00 O'clock Sidamo Coffee and Tea presents traditional Ethiopian Coffee ceremony. Bring the whole family and enjoy the oldest Coffee tradition in the world. Click here to watch The Slide Show."
