This is why I hate all the new homes, they're made with shoddy materials and craftsmanship. You'll never see me buying one of those cookie cutters...

Did you put a large downpayment on the contract? Even if that is the case your only option may be to walk away from the contract, or at least threaten to walk away and see how they react. The reality is that they can take the deposit from you if you walk on the contract. Sorry but that is the reality. I don't think there is anything else they can do.

I wonder if you can walk away loosing your 50k deposit, and then just come back the next day and buy the same house at a 150k discount like you mentioned before? What you should do is try and send some of your friends to try and buy a similar house, and see what rate they get quoted at. If it really is a 150k loss, then I'd say walk. It's a shame to lose that money, but in the end it's worth it.

I have a Ryan Home in Harford County Md . They build cramp and hire no name subcontractors. The government must put in place strict laws to protect the consumer.

I am wondering. Does anyone know the going price of a Ryan home now? This post was started quite a long time ago. Here it is almost 2009 so I would asume that prices are at a very low point in this current economy. Anyone know?
