According to this opinion column in the Wall Street Journal some powerful people want pass an income tax in Washington (one of only a few states without one).

Washington State Income Tax - WSJ.com

I sure hope this doesn't pass. Every state in recent years that passed a state income tax saw their spending go through the roof. Just my opinion.

I'm not a psychic, but I would rate the chances of a state income tax at less than zero. Most of the people I work with are fed up with government excesses. State ferry workers and their scams to get triple time pay are just the tip of the iceberg.

Don't feed the government amoeba...it will only grow by leaps and bounds. Gates and crowd are so filthy rich it would not make a bit of difference to them. Don't let them tell you they will tax only the rich, once the camel gets its nose under the tent, the whole place will soon have a stench.

That was me. I wanted to get some idea what has happened in other states that instituted an income tax. Most people responding in Connecticut and New Jersey give the instituting of an income tax in their states a thumbs down.
