Hi, I posted something a few week ago about looking for housing in Tacoma and Gig Harbor... but I managed to find a decent place to live in Gig Harbor, albeit a little pricey.

I have one more question: Since I'm moving to Gig Harbor and I don't know anyone, I'm wondering how hard it will be for a 20-something woman to make friends or meet people in my age group. I heard there's no nightlife in Gig Harbor. Anyone have any experience with this?

I'm considering living in Seattle and commuting to Gig Harbor, just so that I can meet more friends.

You're right, it's pretty quiet in GH but you're only about 20 minutes (off traffic hours) from Tacoma, which has pretty good nightlife. Depending on what you're used to, you may even like it better than Seattle.

I would not commute from Seattle to Gig Harbor, even with the reverse commute.

GH does have a small town/family feel, but you would be really close to Tacoma, which has more options. I think you'll enjoy it. I wouldn't live in Seattle and commute b/c you'll spend your whole life in the car....and that makes it very hard to make friends.

Tacoma night life should be fine for you. Being a 20 something going to 6th Ave at night you'll find all the college kids from University of Puget Sound. Near downtown you'll find a lot of people on Pacific Ave for a different less college feeling night life. There are a couple music venues like Hell's Kitchen or Jazzbones that I always enjoyed going to.

Commuting from Seattle to Gig Harbor to make more friends is ridiculous. How about driving across the bridge to Tacoma to go to a few bars. Of course, you might get shot at the bars they have in Tacoma.
