This trip would involve an Intercity Transit (Thurston County) bus plus a Grays Harbor Transit bus. It looks like this trip is only possible on weekdays, as the Grays Harbor route has no weekend service.

1. First, you'll need one of these buses from Tacoma to Olympia. One-way cash fare is $1.25 per adult, and children 5 and under ride free.

2. Then you'll need a Grays Harbor Transit Route 40 bus from Olympia to Aberdeen. This trip will cover both Zones 1 and 2, so you're looking at a one-way cash fare of $3.00 per adult. Again, children 5 and under ride free.

There are just not that many people making that trip to justify much in the way of direct transportation. Aberdeen is not exactly a big tourist attraction, nor are there any jobs there. For that number of people, a rental car might be a good option.

At one time, Aberdeen would have been served by Greyhound or Trailways. Trailways isn't even in the state anymore. Had passenger train service at one time (early '50s?).

With only two buses, this trip isn't really that bad. The issue is the schedule - these buses are infrequent, so the layovers are killer.

Also, if the OP and partner are under 25, renting a car is very expensive - probably at least $100 in this case. And there are still some companies out there that won't rent to people that young. Unfortunately, this kind of slow intercity bus transit is often the best option for people who don't have cars or can't drive for some other reason.
