Does anyone know, can civilians go to this restaurant? We LOVE Taco John's, it's a weird obsession we've had for years. In Florida we drove an hour each way to get to our closest one.

You could try to get a temporary base pass, but call first. Info: ID Requirements for Unescorted Access to Joint Base Lewis-McChord Change for non-DoD visitors > 446th Airlift Wing > News.

... Or...

Make the trip to Tri-cities. They have it there. I love Taco John's too

Really, Taco John's is only on base? They have some other locations in WA, but mostly are in the northern plains...Montana, North and South Dakota, and Minnesota.

OK, I need to know...is Taco John's usually good? I had never heard of it, but we were traveling in Montana & ate there, in Dillon I think...and it was awful!

I have to give the one just opened up in Richland a try I guess. Although if a chain can "hang with" the many excellent local Mexican restaurants here, I would be surprised.

What's so good about them anyway?

Oh god no, it's just a fast food chain. If you go in with that expectations, you'll definitely be pretty disappointment.

I personally just like them way more than Taco Time. TT would be a better comparison to use than the Mexican eateries.

PNW, yes, they're both on base, in the BX/PX. They have no other locations in Western Wa.

And I'm not sure they are even in Richland. The only one I know of in The Tri is Kennewick near KHS on Vineyard. As for food quality, just above Taco Bell, but probably not as good as Taco Time, which has two locations in Kennewick on Clearwater near the flashcube and the other near the Richland Geo fire station. (no drivethru).

They just built a new Taco John's just north of the Richland PD. I am not certain it is open yet.

Next to it is "Dupus Boomer's", some sort of Hanford themed restaurant.

I should give them a try, although from what you guys have posted, probably better to hit Chapala Express - nearby, and probably much better chow.

That ended up being a "Taco Time", been open for awhile. Perhaps it was originally planned as "Taco Johns". IMO, both are somewhat better than Taco Bell, but I agree Chapala Express would be my choice as well.
