What a strange answer? Where did I say anything about military families? Are you sure you are responding to the right post?

Please explain?

I'm really not crazy about that aspect of living in the area. I want to stay near the water and some shopping, but could easily do without all those military families moving in and out all the time - makes for a very transient kind of feeling and I like older, more established (even historical) ambience.
Have you considered eastern wa? Or are you pretty partial to living near the Ocean? That is one thing I am going to miss living on the west side of the hills

Notice that I said "this" first? I was saying I agreed with your question about avoiding military families. I was directing my post at the original poster.

SaraBeth07 - I expected some inane response like this. We have no problem at all with the soldierswho put their life on the line for us; I think we are all glad they do whatthey do. What we do have an issue with isthe totally insensitive wives and other dependents many of us work alongside ona daily basis who have no appreciation for what they are given -- yes, I saidgiven. As in free. Military families use the same infrastructureas the rest of us - drive on our roads, flush their toilets down our sewers, read from our libraries, and send their kids to our schools -- yet they paynothing for these amenities, while the rest of us pay through the nose forthese basics. We don't get free medicalcare and often must choose between feeding our kids or taking them to the doctor. We can't shop at the PX and buy milk, breadand eggs at half-price, we pay some of the highest grocery bills in the country. We don't get free housing, our housing costs arethe highest in the country. (Ever try toraise 3 kids in a 400 sq.ft. apartment?) Many of us will never be able to own a home. Many of us work two or three jobssimultaneously to make ends meet.

So while we appreciate what your menfolk do for us, we wishyou would all just shut the hell up about all the "freebies" you get in our communities. "Exclusive" you say? You have no idea what the word means. Your "exclusive" protectedmilitary community has no clue what life is really like in the neighborhoods youinhabit and what your presence costs therest of us every single day. Just begrateful and shut the hell up about it.

And I'm sorry, but you guys are very transient. My family has experienced 3 sets of different families next door in only 4 years - not good for my children's perception of stability. You could at least mow the lawn and clean up the yard when you leave.

Rank and wages.... and note the number of dependents does not increase you base pay.

While you complain about benefits given to military families here is a list of benefits given to non-military families who qualify as being on the above list.

Food Stamps, Medicaid, ACA (AKA Obamacare), Welfare, school lunches, low income home asst, reduced property taxes for the elderly, energy asst, temp asst for the needy, earned income credit. etc.

Note: none of the non-military families have members who risk their lives in defense of our country.

No, military people, I am not thanking you for your "service". You enlisted voluntarily for pay in order to get a job. You're entitled to your earned wages and benefits, just like everybody else who does a job. You know what you're signing up for when you enlist and if you can't handle it without acting victimized and expecting to be treated like a special snowflake, then you're probably in the wrong line of work.

People in the military are employees of the government and your salary/wages are paid by all of us taxpayers. So you can say thanks to all of us for paying your way. Except, I don't think any military people will be thanking any tax payers for their livelihood anytime soon. Too busy being ungrateful and feeling put-upon while they mope around like martyrs waving the flag and expecting to be treated like a hero.

How about this: stay on the bases, keep your military culture to yourself, and stop flying your loud polluting jets and helicopters over our cities and homes.

Here's another news flash for you before you start crying and sobbing in response to my post: The mess and noise you make has nothing to do with freedom. You neither provide freedom nor understand it. You're paid public employees, nothing more, nothing less. Get over yourselves.
