Default Military Relocation... which town?

My husband just got stationed at Bangor and I am wondering what town would be best for us to live in. We don't have any kids and I am going to try and attend University of Washington (if the commute isn't TOO awful!)
I was looking into Poulsbo because I really like the small town feel. Also, does anyone know what Bangor base housing is like? We don't know if we want to live on or off base.
Thanks for your input!

I don't know that much about Bangor but will note that the commute to UW would probably be pretty bad. On-base housing probably offers more bang for the buck but has a lot of restrictions. Probably I'm just telling you what you already know....

Default Hi there ...from a military family

Hi. We are too in the military (Army). We are currently in PA but we lived in WA few years ago. We still have a house that we rented out to a military family.
My advice is to speak with the military housing office at Bangor.
There might be a waiting list but get on that list as soon as you can. I believe as soon as there are orders you can sign up. Since you don't have kids and you are planing to be in school then I think you can live off post in a really small apartment and save more money from your BAH. No need to accumulate a lot when you don't have kids and move so often.

There is another site for miltary that you should visit to get info on private rentals near military installations. Email me at darythompson@hotmail.com

Good luck with the search. Check out this site for Bangor base housing
