Would you prefer it if WA did not have the mountains running down the middle of the State?
Thereby eliminating the whole "rain shadow" thing and making the whole place magically appear green?
I really would like that. I live in Tri Cities. Its a dessert. Not much scenery to look at.
Then again there are those looking to get out of the rain...

The mountains "catch" all of the moisture from the Pacific, and causes Eastern, WA to be a desert.

We have looked at moving to the Tri-cities from the UK. The thing that appeals the most to me is the amount of days with no rain. After constant rain nonstop all year for years I would love to have the sun.

I know what the mountains do in terms of the rain. My confusion comes from the question. I don't understand why we would be asked if we would like Washington better without the mountains. Can we move them??

Ilove the mountains of Washington............but I hated the constant rain, I liked the days that were drizzly off and on....but the constant darkness was getting to me....

The mountains are what make Washington what it is -- I live on the dry (east) side but love to visit the wet (west) side occassionally. If it was all the same, the state would not be as diverse and interesting. The drive across the state is beautiful with the variety of the terrain. I'll keep my state just the way it is, thank you!

I love the mountains, but I'd prefer they were a little closer, so I propose we trade the Cascade Mountains and give Central/Eastern Washington I-405 and a player to be named later.

Hmmm, I spelled "desert" as "dessert" ho ho ho.
The question is whether you like the extreme east and west climates of WA.
I suppose it depends on where your from. London is famous for its Fog. But ive always been in the sun. Time to get some scenery change...

I wouldn't have moved here without the scenery and some recreational opportunies provided by the mountain areas. That is regardless of climate, which here west of the Cascades I've found nice enough though.
