Is it possible for a family to survive in WA on an income of 90k? Just curious.....

Depends on where you live - and if you want to buy a house (if you already have a house then you'd probably have equity already built)

Just off the top of my head if you are renting you should have no problem, buying may be difficult depending on where you are at.

We haven't decided on a place just yet, but are looking at cities north of Seattle (Arlington, Edmonds, Marysville, Lake Stevens & etc) or possibly Olympia. And MAYBE (and that's a BIG maybe) the Port Townsend/Port Angeles area.
Thanks for your help!

Olympia would be much cheaper than the Seattle area.

Also, we'd rent for starters, but would be looking to buy as soon as we find the perfect place to live! We do own a house right now, but we don't have much equity in it because we just bought it....but now must relocate!
I keep hearing good things about Sammamish, but it seems very pricey - how far would 90k income go there?

Sammamish is nice! Especially for kids!
But you'll be hard pressed to afford a house out their - they are going to be 500 or 600K and up

Hmm, maybe we'll look into Sammamish when I go back to work!

Why the rush to buy? Rent to make sure that you like the area is what I'd advise, but good luck either way.
It's funny when 90k is considered too little to afford to live in an area, how are the families making it here on 20 or 30k??
One of the reasons that I'm having to leave.
Good luck
Tony
p.s. Sammamish does seem nice.

Sammimish
I just returned from Sammimish and it is beautiful there! My husband and I are relocating and he just started his job this week....the company is putting him up there in a furnished town home and the area is just gorgeous! (Sunny and 60's this past weekend and everything is in bloom! )
We are also selling our new home (one year this month) here in FL and looking at rentals...we need at least 3 bedrooms and wanted a great neighborhood...we found that most nice rental homes are between $1,700 and $1,900 and we found one that we really like....and we are going to be living on less then 90 K. (both cars are paid off at least!) I really believe that it can be done and enjoy life at the same time....
There are town homes for a little less but the it's hard to find anything rentable over 1400 SQ FT and so why not go for the house that is over 2000 SQ FT and not have to pay for storage...but if you don't need that much room there are plenty of town homes, condos and apartments!
Needless to say that the traffic into the city is something else in the am however....getting around other wise isn't all that bad!
Good Luck!
Sharon
