Hi - My family and I are moving soon. We will be living in Gig Harbor, but I'll be working at St. Joseph's hospital in Tacoma. Just wondering if anyone can recommend a good bank that would be convenient in both areas, taking into consideration # of branches & ATMs, hours of operation, etc. Or if anyone has had consistently bad service at any banks, that would be helpful too!

Thanks for your input!

One bank I would not recommend is Venture Bank, which I believe only operates in the Key Peninsula. My dad had an account with them, and in the 3 years with them they changed their business name three times. And he wasn't at all happy with their service.

Columbia Bank is a good bank, but I'm not sure they have a branch in Gig Harbor. As far as having ATM's in both Gig Harbor and Tacoma, you would probably have to go with Bank of America or Chase, which I think are both fraudulent and manipulative money makers.

I'd look into Harborstone Credit Union. 2 branches in Gig Harbor, and zero fees for any ATM anywhere.

Venture Bank is no more, it was taken over by First Citizens Bank and is no longer local.

I would go with Columbia Bank. It has 2 location in Gig Harbor and its HQ is in Downtown Tacoma. It has been said to be one of the stronger local banks and they have been taking over failing banks. Working at St. Joes you will have the option of heading downtown where they have a few branches or use the branch on 19th and Union. You will probably be using the Union ramp to hwy 16 to get to and from Gig Harbor since Sprague is closed for construction for a few years.

Wow, it's not Venture Bank anymore? That's like the fourth time they've changed or been bought! If Columbia Bank is in Gig Harbor, I would go with them.

Thanks again for the great info everyone. We finally moved to Gig Harbor last week & EVERYONE (from our neighbors to people in the community) has been very welcoming and friendly. We decided on Columbia Bank and are very pleased with the outstanding customer service so far. We are very happy we decided to settle here!
