I can't wait for trees to go bare in November. Some trees look their best in winter, especially oaks with their intricate branches.
Looking up the grey sky through the canopy, you are greeted with such scenes. I find it every bit as beautiful as a lush summer landscape.
And then in May, when you're just getting tired of leafless landscapes, a miracle happens... How awesome is that? It's like free travel from a land of desolation to a lush jungle.
Where I live now looks like this in the dead of winter... There's little variation during the course of the year. Certainly not a mood boost as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, the bare trees are beautiful in a unique way. I have a lot more appreciation for seasonal variety in the landscape than I used to.

Totally agree with you. I can't say it in a better way.
I need variation. Bare trees are beautiful, especially when it is cloudy. And just when you want it, nature comes back. In spring the green is "greener" than in summer, and the vegetation is more lush.
Nature is more beautiful when there is a yearly "reset".
Bare landscapes do have their own beauty, but there's just less there. No plants growing on the lower levels of the forest and no leaves to see on deciduous trees. It's a less interesting landscape.
I see no beauty in bare, winter landscapes. It depresses me here in Denver. I moved here from coastal SoCal where the vegetation outside my house was as green in January as in July.
Things are starting to green up now in Denver, and my mood is better

These trees look like eucalyptus from afar. What are they?
Yup, they're eucalyptus mixed with pines. While not native, eucalyptus are quite widespread now. I like them as they're taller than native trees, but they're an invasive species.
