Here are two temperate semi-arid climates ...
Which climate would you choose?

Osoyoos, British Columbia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Alexandra, New Zealand - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I choose Alexandra due to the milder winters...

Tough call, but I'd also choose Alexandra for the milder winters. Suspect their sunshine hours are a bit higher than Osoyoos also.

Good match up though!

Longterm average rainfall for Alexandra is 345mm. Sunshine from a somewhat hill-restricted area about 2030, probably 100-150 higher on neighbouring slopes. Cromwell, slightly wetter, averages at least 2250 hours.

Tough choice, but I'll go with Alexandra for the cooler summers.

I think both locations average around 2,000 hours of sunshine.

I don't like the precipitation pattern for Osoyoos. Alexandra's precipitation is much less than ideal, but it does look better.

Not my favorite climates but interesting ones nonetheless.

The pattern and sum of precipitation matter much more to me than the temperatures of any given climate. That's why I'd give a place like Klyuchi, Russia and Conakry, Cameroon high scores.

Much warmer summers make up for Osoyoos' slightly colder winters...

Osoyoos. I strongly believe it is Canada's best climate. I'm surprised it is only a small town. (Even if you include the entire area, it's still lightly populated.) If I had a lot of money I'd invest in real estate there. It is the Phoenix of Canada (kinda like Alberta is Canada's Texas.)

I agree, a great climate - Osoyoos.
Alexandra isn't bad either, especially considering how tragic places like Invercargill are.
Marginal choice here, but Osoyoos gets the nod.

Speaking of Osoyoos, it is in the Okanagan valley, where they grow wine, right ? has the whole valley the same privileged climate (for Canada), or is it only the town of Osyoos?
