That would just drive me NUTS having it snow in late May that far north if I lived there.

How in the world do those people up there deal with such crappy weather for so much of the year. Its one thing to deal with it from Dec to Mar, but LATE MAY!!

OMG!

Many many years ago, back in my Air Force days, I was stationed in Great Falls, Montana. During my first year there it snowed on June 1st. Warmed up after that to around 100 degrees for the Summer. Then snowed again in September.

I remember walking out of church on that June 1st and commenting something like, "Are you kidding me?"

People were laughing saying, "Calm down, Okie. It does that here."

Not so unusual, really. Churchill averages about an inch and a half of snow for the month of June and July is the only month that has had no measurable snowfall.

You can read all about Churchill's depressing propensity for snow here:

The Hudson Bay still has a lot of ice left, too.

I love cold and snow is okay, but I can only take it for 4 possibly 4 1/2 months a year.

Getting snow in May is crazy.

Actually there are places further south than Churchill that got snow in May, June, and September and are places much more heavily populated than Churchill!

Calgary Canada(1 million people live there) and Denver Colorado(600,000) get measurable snow in May almost every year!

Calgary Canada also gets snow almost every year in September too. They had a snow blizzard a few years ago in Late May with 1 to 2 feet of snow..

There are also communities in the Rocky mountain region that has had snow in May, June, July, August, and September(pretty much every month of the year) such as Jackson Wyoming, Banff Canada, Aspen Colorado, and Vail Colorado!

I'll be interested to see what date all the snow finally melts in Kimmirut, wherever on the east coast of Canada that is. Even though it's currently broad daylight at 3am there's still plenty of snow in late-May, and the forecast is similar to a decent midwinter cold spell here with little if any further melting as we go into June:

I've been to Churchill before in May no less and when I was there, the temperature was about 10F with 30 mph winds and blowing and drifting snow. Churchill is right on the tree line and is on the border between a subarctic/arctic climate. It doesn't surprise me in the least that they are getting snow there now.

Don't know about Kimmirut but Iqaluit a bit to the north gets recordable snowfall all year round and lying snow for 9 months of the year.
