Canberra by far is more preferable to me. Sunnier winters with a better chance at seeing snow and hotter summers...also Canberra can see some pretty good electrical storms, as far as I know.
Brest has nice summers as well but the low winter sunshine and high winter lows really make Canberra look better.
Based on climate, Canberra would be the first place in Australia I'd live...so I'm a little biased already here.
Canberry certainly,its climate the closest in Australia to my hometown's one-doesn't leave me a choice.
Brest is a typical boring and odd for its latitude western-european climate.
Brest is admittedly very mild though, lowest ever daytime maximum of -5.1c in 1985. Many south coast english places have been lower than this. Still far lower than Canberras (above freezing) lowest daytime maximum though
