Both of these climates are at 67.5°N but obviously have very different climates... Røst is the most northerly town in the world which averages above freezing 12 months a year and Verkhoyansk which is the coldest town in the northern hemisphere. I find it fascinating that they are both at the exact same latitude..

Røst - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

For sunshine hours for Røst, I am guessing it's very similar to nearby Bodø so around the 1200 mark.

Which would you choose?
I think people who know my preferences on this forum already know which option I would choose...

Verkhoyansk. Winters are quite a lot colder than I'd like, but it is much drier and has much better seasonal variation.

Rost easily...a few warm(ish) months over summer in Verkhoyansk doesn't make up for the horrendously long and cold winters, also its way too dry.

Rost. I wouldn't be comfortable in any season but at least I wouldn't have to fear for my extremities or even my life every time I go outside for 7 months each year.

Rost. It's miserable, but better than the alternative.

Rost really is mild for it's latitude. Even in this region there is a town with a lower average minimum temp than Rost has- at 4.2C against 3.6C

Verkhoyansk for me. Winters are more reliable (like actually averaging below freezing), if way too cold for my preference. I'm sure there would be guaranteed snow for a good chunk of the year, something I like that Rost cannot provide. Rost has pleasant summers, in contrast to Verkhoyansk's too-hot summers. However the summer lows in Verkhoyansk are chillier than Rost, and in any case the peak of the heat doesn't last long. Sunshine is good in both places, so it's not an issue.

I did, and my position still stands. They have a good number of snow days even if it does not add up to much precipitation or snowfall, and what does fall, which is a good amount beginning in October, certainly won't melt in the winter.
