We are in Italy, in Montefeltro, on the border between Emilia-Romagna, Tuscany and Marche, about 80 km east of Florence and 40 km southwest of Rimini.
They're two 1,200 metres high twin rocks, called Sasso Simone and Simoncello (I can translate their name to Simon Rock and Little Simon). They look a bit like two southwestern "mesas".
The scenic landscape is wild and rocky, with some badlands, surrounded by other rocks, grasses and gentle green hills. The climate of this area is a Cfa (temperate humid), bordering apenninic Cfb. Summers are warm with frequent thunderstorms, winters are quite cold and very snowy.
Some studies have also suggested that this two rocks could be the two peaks you can see in Leonardo Da Vinci's Mona Lisa background.
