Eureka is a small town on the northern California coast with foggy cool to mild weather year round climate. It's key feature is LACK OF WARMTH IN SUMMER- ALL TIME RECORD HIGH FOR JULY IS ONLY 76 F. Temperatures are between 40 and 65 degrees 99 percent of the time. No snow in winter. Summer is foggy and breezy most of the time so you can't even enjoy the sun in the 60 degree weather cuz the windchill and clouds make it feel like low 50s, even during the day. Falls and springs are sunny but breezy also in the 50s. Winters are somewhat rainy but more of a mist, drizzle all the time, no thunderstorms and rarely heavy rain. If you find the lack of sunshine and warmth a problem in Eureka, you can choose the year round dry scorching heat of "Ad" instead, a climate created by one of our forum, regulars, fznamznon, PLEASE READ LINK BEFORE VOTING- it's hotter and drier than you think http://www.city-data.com/forum/weath...limate-ad.html
If you were forced to live in either one for two years, which would you pick?

Wow! That's a toss up! I can't vote!
Can't beat fog and no sun! And consistent temps.
Now if it was only ever in the 60's (never lower but could go higher) that would win.
But ahhh that furnace heat...
(no sun though... boooo!)
12/18°C warmest month at 40°N sea level is one of the most epic climatic failures I have ever seen
That has to be one of the largest negative temp vs. latitude anomalies on the planet (the opposite of Lofoten Islands in winter), is there anywhere that performs "better" in this category?

For annual average it's not that off. Its annual average is almost exactly the same as the US east coast location for its latitude, Long Island, which is also my hometown.

Amsterdam Island in the Indian Ocean has close to the same summer temps at 37S
