For me, I had always been interested in geography as a child. I remember making maps of imaginary worlds with different biomes. When I was 12, however, I discovered the Köppen System, which was my first major introduction to climatology. The climate maps with all the different colors looked so appealing to me, and I wanted to learn everything I could about these interesting zones. I saw the blue zone where I lived, and the green area with Western Europe, and even a magenta area in Iran! I would just go on google street view and look closely at every different climate zone. I eventually learned more about things like pressure zones, currents, prevailing winds, and how they all interact with each other a while later, when I wanted to make a climate map of an imaginary world as realistic as possible.

I'm curious as to what caused others on here to be interested in such a topic!

When I was 11, we got to experience a monster blizzard that dumped nearly three feet of snow (just shy of a meter) on our town and sent temperatures to -33 (-36.1) at our official airport weather station the next day. We were in a "warm" pocket because outside of our mini heat island, mercury thermometers froze solid all over the county.
This all happened in the early 60's and there were people still alive who remembered the Blizzard of '88 and claimed this one was as bad or worse. And it didn't get anywhere nearly as cold then.
I believe that was what started my interest in weather and climate.

From growing up and living in a cool, dull climate and always wishing I lived In somewhere like the Mediterranean or California. Besides I work outside aswell so a sunny climate makes it enjoyable

Mine was pretty much an outgrowth of just being curious about everything as a kid. I first noticed climate/weather when I was watching the Bicentennial celebration news and the story featured video of what various places in the U.S. were doing. The video clip of Florida showed people dressed up in red, white and blue clothing in front of a yard full of palm trees. I asked my mom why there was no snow and why those types of trees didn't grow where we lived (Oswego, NY). She said it was a different climate and I wandered to the library to find out more.
