A group of people from Sub-Arctique Rate Fictional Climate: Sub-Arctique decided to venture out one day. They headed to the other side of the mountains separating them from the coast, and founded the town of New Sub-Arctique.
They found this location to be milder year round, and much wetter. Many of the thunderstorms they were used to are virtually non existent here, with only a small handful per year, and the weather was quite a bit gloomier here, and yet the new town thrived just as well as the one they had left.
The winters here are much less likely to see severe cold overnight, with most nights staying above 0F. The summers are much less likely to hit into the 80s, and a 90 degree day has yet to be seen.
There is a small hangup in warming from February to March, much to the annoyance of some, and to the pleasure of others, but then the spring thaw starts to accelerate into a pleasantly warm, not too hot summer, before the fall cool down starts.
New Sub-arctique, like Sub-Arctique, is also located on the same latitude as Anchorage. On dark clear nights, watch for auroras!
I give this on an E+. LOVE that winter snow, but HATE that summer rain!!! Too much of it. Even the shoulder seasons aren't dry. Kind of ruins it for me.
C.....still too cold in winter, especially the records but I like the Auroras and summer thunderstorms. Make the winter temps warmer by 15 degrees and the record lows warmer by 20 degrees and I'd bump it up to a B+.
Solid A. Make winters 5-10 degrees colder and it would be an A+++.
