Marquette, Michigan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is one of my favourite climates east of the Rockies. Average temps are near perfect year round: consistently cold winters with good lake effect snowfall, decently warm but not hot summers and nice transition seasons. Precipitation is evenly distributed, whilst sunshine is good but not excessive.

I give it an A. It loses one point for the hot and humid spells that occasionally plague the Midwest, as the record high of 40C/104F demonstrates (and record highs at or above 100F from May-August inclusive). At least prolonged heat is rare this far north.

I'm assuming Lake Superior moderates temperatures somewhat in summer, though not as much as in Duluth.

Fantastic climate. Winters are not too cold, but cold enough to generally support a "true" winter most years. Summers look relatively comfortable. Though a bit slanted, sunshine hours are okay.

I hope to visit the UP someday.

D. Winters are too long and too snowy. Spring is at least a month delayed compared to NYC. Summers are decent, though, if very short.

I am not a fan of winter so anything up north would be a nightmare for me.

A decent climate, and one of the best east of the Rockies. Summers are too warm but decent. Winters are also too warm, but again they're quite decent. Precipitation is good, snowfall at 141 inches per year looks great, and sunshine at 2300 hours is within tolerance. Record highs and lows are all somewhat too high; the place is way too prone to warm spells in winter and not prone enough to cold snaps for my taste. Marquette may seem to have harsh winters to many Americans but it's the plentiful snow that carries it; not the wimpy all-time low of -24F .

For me this place is the definition of a straight B grade.
