I woke up to 72 degrees the other day, and opened the door to the screened in porch during breakfast. Humid, fresh air, it was like I had been woken from some horrible 4-month coma and could just live normally again.
Hahahaha I am a student and in my first year at university I had a girlfriend so when she stayed over we had to share a single bed.. I used to get so uncomfortably hot with her there that I would open the window fully even in February!
When I am on my own though, I prefer to wake up to it being warm.. I handle 20C nights quite ok and find it hard to get out of bed if it is cold
A single bed shared? Must of been way too hot. I have a single bed and find my self taking up the whole thing sometimes and occasionally rolling onto the floor. Can't imagine having to share it with anyone, even the dog takes up too much room.
Back on thread, I prefer the second option. I take much longer to wake up in the morning when I am cold, getting out of the shower to a cold room is brutal. 70F is not even that warm at all and I wouldn't sweat after getting out of the shower.
Both options are not too bad though. 21F is not even that cold for winter time especially if it is before 6AM which means a nice day. Mornings where the temp is below -30C are much worse, and we had MANY of those last winter.

It was hell.. never try it!
70F is of course better.. I find it hard getting out of bed when it is cold, and 70F is a nice temperature, although I would probably be a bit warm
On hot days my room temperature is sometimes 26C when I wake up. It is warm, but not overly so because I was sleeping all night and adjusted to the temperature.
If those are the outdoor temps....I wouldnt impact much of the indoor temp. At 21F the heat would have been running or running (keep it usually at 67) and if 70 outside and humid then likely the A/C has run during the night some (we keep it at 73F during the summer). I personally prefer the indoor temp of 67 and less humid inside the house. Sleeping a bit chilly is way better way to sleep.....under blankets and all.
