Perhaps this is the new normal?

I doubt it. We had a run like this in the 60s and it eventually came to an end (though they had sunnier summers still).

A sunny summer would be nice.

I like Jersey in summer. Not necessarily the best summer weather, but generally it's as sunny as anywhere in England, and the architecture and scenery suit a sunny climate. It's nice having family there to visit.

The forecast looks absolutely shocking for sunshine now. It's still a close fight between May 2017 and May 1981 for the cloudiest on record.

It just gets worse and worse.

Nyköping is like some sort of San Francisco today... a high of 22C whereas 27C in Norrköping just 60 km away, normally we're just about identical

I travelled with bus between the cities this morning and it was 19C at the start here but then in the interior forest where the motorway goes it was 22C already then. The Baltic Sea clearly isn't up for the challenge yet A 24-25C day would've been nice...

^^Wow! 9c in the west of Germany and 30c in the east. Sharp boundary. Such a difference is unusual?

Thunderstorms are going like crazy on the boundary between the cold and the hot air; over 50 thousand lightning strikes in the past two hours, about 7 per second!
