France, Germany and Spain have had hot weather in recent years, it's just that it doesn't seem to quite reach the UK, bar the odd day. When was the last official heatwave? Must be a few years.
The last couple of July's have obviously been well above average, but it seems that it's just been consistent warmth rather than actual hot days.
We're going to Crete in June, then I'll be going to DC in August, and we'll probably go away in October, so I'll definitely be seeing some heat!
I am also going on holiday in summer.. it would be nice to get some here though.

2006 was exceptional so we can't expect that anytime soon. Reached 33c in 2013 which is higher than normal.
Yep it is par on course, of course 2006 was exceptional, but it would be nice to have a real heatwave this summer, it has been 9 years since we last had one, and throughout history it seems that we should reach 35C once a decade
Well, London did reach 31C for 3 days straight in July 2013, before climaxing at 34C, so I think that's a fairly impressive heatwave. This decade is barely halfway over so there's plenty of time yet.

Why do you want to reach 35°C? It's not that comfortable...
But actually more than heat peaks or short heatwaves, are constant high temperatures day and night that may be unpleasant without air conditioning. Our July 2012 was really unbearable even if I like warm weather and I'm used to heat. We had 27.2°C of average mean that month
^^ Wow, that's horrible. I like occasional heat but that looks extremely uncomfortable. That day with a high of 34C and 32mm of rain looks interesting though.

Summer 2012 was just horrible and unbearable here. In July Serres had 37 C avg. high, 29 C daily mean and around 24 C avg low!!! It was extremely hot from June thru=ough August one of the warmest summers in our history! I couldn 't sleep well most of the nights. I was sweating all the day.
July 2012 was crappy in most of France. I remember a lot of 20c grey days. It only got hot after August 15th.
I also remember spending some days in Czech republic in mid july with 14c average and rain. I slept in a tent and it was really cold and damp at night. Then I got here and it was 36-39c for one week straight with minimums around 25c. I got sick as soon as I ate my first ice cream.
Hey, hey. Don't complain, that's a luxury problem right there!
Hahahaha I know that all of you in the North want warm and sunny weather but this is usual here in the summer. Summers are hot and sunny every year so I don 't miss it. We are some days before the beggining of the classical greek hot summer so I want some coolness and rain :P This May till now is warmer and drier than average.

That's crazy but my city being one of the hottest in Italy has experienced even harsher summers, the whole summers of 2003 and 2007 were nightmarish. July 2007 was particularly harsh but at least it was dry, August 2003 was way more humid instead and had similar temps.
