I know this is climate talk Europe, but we also experienced an extremely hot July (by our standards) in 2012. Chicago/MDW had an average max of 33.4C and a Mean of 28.1C. The absolute max was 40.6C at MDW... West suburban Itasca hit 42.8C.

slow start to summer in sweden (5 consecutive days of daily averages of 10C or above) this year. normally (61-90), it should've arrived in most of the southern third by now.

orange = summer
green = spring
blue = winter

Unfortunately we have only an AC at the living room. My room doesn 't have one. :/ We have only a fan at my room but if you know fans aren 't very well to deal with very hot weather like this. So I suffered a lot me and my family. I couldn 't sleep well. The hours that I could sleep was from 4:00 to 09:00. And then I was waking up at 09:00 wet from sweating because of the heat. It was horrible. Dry hot weather at the noons and afternoons and high humidity >60% at nights with high temperatures too.

That seems horrible, even worse than here in the tropics. Hottest room I experienced was Sukamandi, 26C+ (78f) inside with fan, surprisingly I can sleep quite well there, maybe because the place is my favourite place (dad's relatives)

26 and 27 C are our room temperatures in Serres at a normal summer like the previous one. :P So I don 't want to imagine what was our room temperature that summer. We didn 't have a thermometer that year. Yes it was the worst summer. From the worst I have ever experience. The other awful summer was the summer 2007 because every month was hot and we reached our record high temperature of 45 C.

You can see the monthly reports of Sandanski, a city in south Bulgaria which is located on the borders with Greece and is near Serres. There is not any difference at the climate of the two cities. They only have about +/- 1 C difference and especially at the highs. Sandanski has about 1 C cooler highs than Serres generally. The lows are the same.

strangely enough, summer 2007 was probably the coldest of the whole decade in my area in France... I remember one day in July the high was only 15c in Lyon (!!!!). It was only hot for a few days in mid-july. August was pathetic as well.

July 2012 saw the same pattern: Very cool and rainy west of the Alps, and non-stop hot weather in Italy.

2003 was hot everywhere though. The only similar month in intensity and duration we had was July 2006. Both very dry and blazing hot months for us.

Lol 2007 here was as crap as you can get. One of the dullest, wettest and coolest Julys on record. A maximum temperature for the whole month of just 24C for Heathrow which is a record lowest absolute max for July in recorded history. The lowest high we had that month was 18.6C, so not as bad as other places in France, Netherlands, Belgium and northern UK that were seeing temperatures in the low teens on days..

May something like this never happen again..

Summer 2007 was quite ok in Helsinki, very stable, but not bad.

Jun: 21.1C/9.9C
Jul: 21.7C/13.5C
Aug: 22.1/13.0C

Rainfall: 169 mm. 28.5C, 26.3C, 28.2C the record highs. Cooler than average July, but nothing biggie.
